Membership

Becoming a member of the Association acknowledges your commitment to maintaining the highest industry standards.

As an Association member you are recognised within the industry as a suitably qualified and experienced monumental mason.  Many councils and authorities already recognise the importance of the NZMMMA and will only use registered members.  It is the Association’s intention to grow this support and there are a number of exciting projects which will help us do this including the development of an industry quality app and a new website on the horizon.

As a member of NZMMMA, you are expected to follow best practice guidelines, including installing to current NZ:4242 industry standards.  To ensure on-going quality standards are met, our members agree to participate in a quality assessment programme which involves a review of work by the Association’s Membership Assessor from time to time.

Membership not only provides a strong network of advice and support, but also unlocks a range of benefits.

Advocacy

We advocate on behalf of our members within the wider industry to influence positive change in the sector.  The Association participates in the establishment and maintenance of standards, by-laws and cemetery planning through good working relationships with local authorities and government  departments.  They have direct representation on the National Advisory Group, Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) and New Zealand Cemeteries and Crematoria Collective.

NZMMMA members have been instrumental in discussions on industry training and were the drivers in the review of the current NZ4242 Standards.

Education

Members have access to hands-on training workshops on specialist areas of the trade, taught by leaders in the field.  Our members have access to training and information overseen by BCITO to enable them to maintain their professional skills and stay aware of current legislative requirements.

We help with education in the field through establishment of Unit Standards for skill disciplines required.  We make training record books available for staff to qualify for a specialist unit including completion of an apprenticeship.

The Association has published best practice manuals and  guides which are exclusively available to NZMMMA members.

Events

The annual AGM and conference is a fantastic opportunity to network with peers.  These gatherings offer valuable learning opportunities through keynote specialist speakers and technical sessions, alongside enjoyable social events.

The Association acknowledges the expert skills of their monumental masons through their annual Excellence Awards.  This is an excellent opportunity for members to celebrate and share their work.
